Our Story
The Sausalito Cruising Club was founded in 1948 by returning World War II veterans and local Sausalito mariners who wanted camaraderie, community, and a connection to boating on the bay. Generations later, we still gather in the same remarkable clubhouse — a refurbished WWII ammunition barge moored at Dunphy Park since 1960. SCC CARES was created to ensure that this irreplaceable piece of Sausalito maritime history endures — and that the values of service, stewardship, and community that built our Club continue to inspire the generations ahead.
